When The Wedding Ceremony Is Just About The Flowers And Cake
I was entering a shop that specializes on wedding items which include wedding souvenirs, budget wedding invitations, flowers and cakes when I passed through a couple whom I knew were getting married because they were arguing on just about almost everything.
The girl required a bouquet of flowers that had five diverse kinds of flowers in it plus the groom said it is going to seem like a bouquet of candies when their wedding theme color has to be silver and white. The guy wanted the girl to choose a bouquet of flowers that were closer to the tone of their wedding motif so that it won’t grab each and every attention when she walks down the aisle. The girl was furious and she said that she is having five different kinds of flowers in her bouquet or she is not walking down that aisle. The guy didn’t have any option but give way to her bride-to-be. If he isn’t going to, she might go ala-runaway bride.
I figured everything had already been settled between the couple so I walked by them and went to the cakes section of the store. I am a massive cake fan and I just go there to gaze at the modern designs that cake designers are coming up with nowadays as compared to the classic cakes that have the smooth layer known as fondant and is overloaded with fruits or flowers. I do didn’t think that the pile of pillows in front of me was a huge wedding cake. It looked similar to a tall pile of Indian-inspired pillows that even had dangling tassels in it. It even had gold and silver beads that are real candies. The 5-layered pillow cake looked so soft and yummy. Though I was not sure whether the cake on exhibit was a real one or it seemed to be merely a replica on exhibit. I didn’t dare touch it. It looked really delicious though.
The couple whom I’ve heard arguing minutes ago, we’re arguing again but this time, it was with regards to their cake. The guy needed a modern cake because he needed the cake to stand out during the dinner. The girl didn’t want anything else but the 3-layered fondant cake covered with cherries, mangoes and peaches. I believe her alternative sounded amazing. However the guy said that he’ll be paying for it anyway so it’ll be his selection of the cake that they’re going to have for the wedding dinner.
The girl was furious again and she said that the guy will be eating the cake by himself on their wedding dinner if he isn’t going to pick her option. The guy, I think, had enough of all the yakking so they promptly left the store buying nothing. The store attendant was snickering from the back of the counter as he looked at me and said “they’ve happened to be here 3 times now and nothing has changed”.
With that, I thought maybe they should’ve hired a wedding planner who will coordinate everything that they will need in preparation for their wedding. That way, they won’t have too much work to do and the burden is distributed evenly. That is what wedding planners are paid to do and we as customers are responsible in making that decision whether we want to make our wedding a huge success or the biggest laugh that will be part of our photo albums forever.
