When The Wedding Ceremony Is Just About The Flowers And Cake

by George Moulakis

I was entering a shop that specializes on wedding items which include wedding souvenirs, budget wedding invitations, flowers and cakes when I passed through a couple whom I knew were getting married because they were arguing on just about almost everything.

The girl required a bouquet of flowers that had five diverse kinds of flowers in it plus the groom said it is going to seem like a bouquet of candies when their wedding theme color has to be silver and white. The guy wanted the girl to choose a bouquet of flowers that were closer to the tone of their wedding motif so that it won’t grab each and every attention when she walks down the aisle. The girl was furious and she said that she is having five different kinds of flowers in her bouquet or she is not walking down that aisle. The guy didn’t have any option but give way to her bride-to-be. If he isn’t going to, she might go ala-runaway bride.

I figured everything had already been settled between the couple so I walked by them and went to the cakes section of the store. I am a massive cake fan and I just go there to gaze at the modern designs that cake designers are coming up with nowadays as compared to the classic cakes that have the smooth layer known as fondant and is overloaded with fruits or flowers. I do didn’t think that the pile of pillows in front of me was a huge wedding cake. It looked similar to a tall pile of Indian-inspired pillows that even had dangling tassels in it. It even had gold and silver beads that are real candies. The 5-layered pillow cake looked so soft and yummy. Though I was not sure whether the cake on exhibit was a real one or it seemed to be merely a replica on exhibit. I didn’t dare touch it. It looked really delicious though.

The couple whom I’ve heard arguing minutes ago, we’re arguing again but this time, it was with regards to their cake. The guy needed a modern cake because he needed the cake to stand out during the dinner. The girl didn’t want anything else but the 3-layered fondant cake covered with cherries, mangoes and peaches. I believe her alternative sounded amazing. However the guy said that he’ll be paying for it anyway so it’ll be his selection of the cake that they’re going to have for the wedding dinner.

The girl was furious again and she said that the guy will be eating the cake by himself on their wedding dinner if he isn’t going to pick her option. The guy, I think, had enough of all the yakking so they promptly left the store buying nothing. The store attendant was snickering from the back of the counter as he looked at me and said “they’ve happened to be here 3 times now and nothing has changed”.

With that, I thought maybe they should’ve hired a wedding planner who will coordinate everything that they will need in preparation for their wedding. That way, they won’t have too much work to do and the burden is distributed evenly. That is what wedding planners are paid to do and we as customers are responsible in making that decision whether we want to make our wedding a huge success or the biggest laugh that will be part of our photo albums forever.

Wedding Theme Propositions

by Donald Bradleys

Getting married doesn’t mean that you need to stick with the conventional and traditional way. When I say getting married the traditional way is when you get married inside the church and everybody is all dressed up. We can all make our special day one of the most memorable weddings that our guests will ever attend to and it will be the talk of the town.

I think every bride and groom wants to have the best of everything when they get married. That is why there is no reason for couples to get all dressed up in suits, tuxedos, coats and the wedding gown when they can get married in their most comfortable clothes.

1. Getting married by the beach is just one of the most popular wedding motifs that loads of girls tend to be dreaming to have. It does not imply that you can have the beach closed for your wedding. You will be able to have the most beneficial spot of the beach where the shore line is long enough to be your aisle and where the waves do not really crash. You don’t want your wedding to get washed out by the giant waves and end up getting a mouth to mouth resuscitation kiss instead.

2. A garden wedding is also just one of the greatest themes that modern couples happen to be having. It is not something new but the approach that’s being applied to this kind of theme in these days makes it more exceptional and elegant. You’ll be walking on flowers and grass lined with dandelions and as you approach the groom, flowers will likely be showered upon you. This also makes a superior venue for the wedding reception as well, following the wedding ceremony. You may serve your favorite salad and pasta and have anyone share the dance floor since it is practically limitless. Typically, garden weddings are open-air weddings. Thus, checking the weather forecast for the wedding day is one of the most essential tasks to do. You do not want rain to wreck this day.

3. Fairytale weddings are usually held in Disneyland. Here, you can easily dress up as Cinderella, Princess Aurora or even Snow White and get married by the ever recognized iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle with your dashing Prince Charming Groom, who is also dressed up as Prince Charming! Certainly, you cannot do anything with park visitors watching your wedding ceremony so you might just have to live with it. It’s really a park so there will probably be many folks who will be gate crashing your in wedding.

4. Want a snow wedding? It is unusual and it is fabulous to have bits of snow fall from the sky as you walk down the open-air aisle. This kind of wedding might require a bit more of planning simply because it could involve warmer clothes instead of a designer gown that could get ruined in the snow. However, it’s terrific to heat things up just when the surroundings tend to be getting cold. A sleigh pulled by reindeers will likely be you bridal car and if you would like to be a little naughtier, throw snow at the girls as opposed to the bouquet of flowers in the end ceremony. Keep it that way and your wedding will turn into a snowball fight. It may be fun but be careful because you don’t want to end up in the hospital.

Getting Acquainted To The Original Monster-in-Law

by Carole Laruelle

I just saw the movie “Monster-in-Law” and I still can’t help but laugh with all the crazy-but-true situations that happen in real life. There comes a time in our children’s lives when they decide to get married and there’s nothing else we can do about it but to be supportive of them. This is not the case with Jane Fonda as Michael Vartan’s overprotective mother and she would just do anything to keep her son from marrying Jennifer Lopez.

I know that it may possibly not be the most common thing for soon-to-be mother and daughter-in-laws to slap and hit each other days before the wedding then instantly just kiss and make-up on the specific day. I’ve practically nothing against in-laws. In fact, determined by my experience, in-laws are usually just as caring and warm as your parents so there exists nothing at all to be scared of and there is undeniably no valid reason to drive them away. They just want to feel that they didn’t lose their son or daughter if the two of you got married, but in fact they gained you like a brand new member of their particular growing household.

I know that a number of mothers generally are overprotective specifically of an only son they’ve got and they may possibly do anything to keep him from marrying a girl. It’s simply because they feel that they are going to be pushed aside and left forgotten because your son has a new girl that he is going to be spending the rest of his life with. You really don’t have to think of it that way because that is just not necessarily the situation.

Have you ever considered the fact that your son is getting married and that you will soon have a grandchild that you can spoil all over again just like how you did to your son? It is really exciting to have another kid with you while you go shopping or while you roam around just like you did when your son was still a child. Your son would ask you silly questions that would leave you dumbfounded and suddenly, you realize that it’s now your grandson asking you the same silly questions.

And you also have to get acquainted to the bride’s household to keep you company. Don’t worry because you are not the only mother feeling the same way relating to your son getting married. The best thing you could do is to keep yourself preoccupied with the stuff that you love to do. Just think of the stuff that you weren’t able to do because you were too busy thinking how you could call off the wedding and pull your son home with a crowbar.

You are not letting him go but in fact, you are letting him welcome a new addition to your family and soon, you will have little grandchildren running all over the house and they will have you as their favorite person in the world for baking the best cookies and brownies, for not yelling at them when they break a vase or for keeping a secret that only the two of you know about.

Good Engagement Rings For Weddings

by Adriana Noton

To choice engagement rings for weddings can be a daunting task. What is the perfect type of wedding rings for your fiancee? What is fashionable and why is that so? How do you pick all the different kinds if you do not know what you are looking for? This guide will explain many different cuts of ring in order to help.

The color, style, and size of the ring is all very subjective. You should know what type of metal and gem your girlfriend likes before you propose. That said, the most classic and timelessly fashionable rings are on silver, white gold, or platinum bands. This is because something silver in color can look shinier and matches with more.

Diamonds are also the classic stone for the same reason. They have more sparkle and will go with any outfit. Because they are such a popular stone, a diamond ring is often synonymous with an engagement. If you get a colored stone, people may not realize that it is intended to be an engagement ring. It also signifies a less expensive ring. Diamonds are rare due to a very controlled market. Other stones are less so. That said, sometimes smaller colored stones can be used to supplement a diamond.

One ring that should be widely ignored (unless your girlfriend specifically says she likes it) is the pear shaped diamond. These are the most commonly ridiculed stone cuts. They are better suited for earrings and necklaces because they hang correctly. They just look odd on a ring and the setting is not as secure.

The best stone shapes are circular, square, and emerald cut. They are the most basic shapes that would not draw any negative attention. Emerald cut means a more rectangular shape than square cut. It fits more oblong on the finger, heading from one knuckle to the other. Many women like them because it implies a bigger stone. You can see into the depths of the diamond better and makes it look larger than it really is.

Oval rings are a slightly better option than pear shaped ones. It is like you take a circular diamond and pull it from either end, stretching it out. A marquis cut is another option, too. In this case, you take a pear shaped diamond and have it be pointed at both ends instead of rounded at one. It bulges in the middle slightly and, like the emerald style, goes more from knuckle to knuckle.

There are other things to think about apart from the cut of the stone–though this IS the biggest part. Does your girlfriend want a solitaire ring? This means a ring with just one single stone. Some women like it because it means more attention is drawn to that particular stone. It also means the stone can be bigger, since other smaller jewels are not purchased. Some like the three stone ring with two stones flanking the major one. Others like diamonds all around the whole band.

You should also think about engraving. Do you want any sentiment written on the band? How much do you want the wedding bands themselves to match each other and match the engagement ring? Is this all going to fit into your budget? Both the engagement ring and the set of wedding rings should be bought at the same time or at least fashioned to compliment each other.

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Invitation Wording

by Sara Johnson

Are you trying to select your wedding invitation design and wording, only to find that you have no idea what the invitations should say? Many couples find this to be the case, especially if they have had little experience sending formal invitations before this. Those who aren’t sure what the invitations need to say should start by figuring out the basic details of the wedding. You’ll need to know the time, date, and location of the ceremony and the reception before you can order invitations. You’ll also need the full names of the people paying for or hosting the wedding, which usually includes the parents of the bride and groom.

Start by determining the basics. What do your guests need to know about the ceremony and reception? Important details include the date, time, and location, as well as your names and the names of the people who are hosting or paying for the wedding, which is typically the parents of the couple. Additional details you’d want to include on the invitations include whether children are invited, and whether there is a specific dress code, especially if it is not a black-tie wedding. Before you start working on the wording, you’ll need to have these details finalized. Changing any of these details after the invitations have already been ordered or sent can add a huge headache to the wedding planning process.

It should go without saying, but your guest list must be set before the invitations are ordered. Not only will you have a more accurate count of how many cards you will need, but you’ll also need to know who to address on the invitation. Those included on the invitation are those who have been invited; if you leave off children’s names, it is implied that they have not been invited. Always use the full name of each of your guests, rather than a nickname or shortened version, even for close friends. For formal weddings, spell out each address and date, rather than using numbers.

Even if you are selecting your wedding invitation wording from a list of choices provided by the invitation designer, you still have the task of choosing appropriate wording. Both the design and the wording should reflect the wedding you are planning. For example, if you are planning a formal ceremony, select the most formal invitation style available. If you want your wedding to be a more casual, relaxed event, select an invitation that reflects this. Using the right wording and style will give guests the right impression about your wedding plans.

Although many couples focus much more on the invitation design than on the wording of their wedding invitations, both are important because they let guests know what to expect on your wedding day. The invitations should reflect your personalities, as well as the style of the occasion, whether it is casual or formal.

Why Cubic Zirconia Bands Are Getting So Popular

by Connie Stevens

When proposing to a woman, the customary gift is an engagement ring. Engagement rings can be made from a variety of materials and can come with all sorts of stone insets. While they’re popular all year round, June brings in the highest number of wedding and engagement ring sales compared to the rest of the year.

The first sign of the custom of exchanging rings began way back where men would hand the woman of his choice a nuptial ring as a sign of his affection. Back then, they did not have the exquisite materials used in the rings we have today, rather they used iron.

Instead of adding precious stones to the rings of that time, it was popular to instead scratch in the initials of the wearer on the inner part of the ring.

Of late, cubic zirconia stones are immensely popular and is becoming the preferred choice of stone. Although “diamonds are a girl’s best friend” as they say, cubic zirconia’s are fast becoming everyone’s favorite as these jewels are so much cheaper than real diamonds.

Many young couples who can’t afford real diamonds for their engagement normally go for plain wedding bands. Even though some do prefer the simplicity of plain rings, most women still desire rings that come with precious stones.

If you are really after a ring with a set stone, but you prefer to not spend as much on a diamond, you should definitely consider a cubic zirconia engagement ring. With the money you save on the ring, you could put it towards having a better honeymoon or even pay off part of a new car. Diamond rings are much too expensive and it would be much better to put it off for the time being until you really do have money to blow.

The thing about the zirconia’s, these stones look fabulous and unless you have the experience to tell them apart, you would not visually notice a difference between cubic zirconia’s and diamonds.

The cubic zirconia’s are perfect for couples who are just starting off and don’t have a lot of money to spend on a wedding ring. Besides, with diamond rings, you’re mostly stuck with the clear stones as tinted ones will cost you tons of money. With the zirconia’s, you can have a whole range of gorgeous colors to choose from.

Having Only The Heart Of The Ocean

by George Moulakis

I do not know a single soul who doesn’t know or has not heard of the Heart Of The Ocean Diamond Necklace that Kate Winslet (Rose DeWitt Bukater/Rose Dawson) wore in the 2nd All-Time Worldwide Box office movie Titanic.

I have to admit that it took me three long months before I was able to see the movie after it started showing in the local theaters, This was due to the fact that everytime I tried to get a ticket for me and my pals, the theater’s tickets were all sold out for the entire week and it was a thing that I have by no chance experienced yet so I did not have the mind to acquire tickets at the very least 2 weeks ahead of time. A common routine for me and my buddies would be to go to the theater, buy tickets and go in to watch our selected movie. On the other hand, this movie experience was way different than what my friends and I have expected to happen.

Anyway, the highlight that everyone was waiting to see was to when Rose asked Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) to draw her wearing only the Heart Of The Ocean Necklace and nothing else. Inside the cinemas, you could actually hear the people gasp to see a very beautiful young lady get undressed in front of a young boy, asking him to draw her in the nude.

I mean who wouldn’t want that? So then it became a huge hit among girls to have a piece of necklace similar or resembling The Heart Of The Ocean as part of their jewelry. And of course, online auction websites had their own hype of the piece of gem. You can guess that eBay was one of the top online auction websites to have a lot of online sellers auction at least one replica of the blue diamond movie replica and until the present day, you’d still see one amounting up to $600 or even more. I suddenly realized that the hype isn’t over yet even if it’s been 13 years since it first came out.

The last time I made a research about the actual Heart Of The Ocean diamond, it was with Twentieth Century Fox’s movie archives. I’m not sure if they’ve already auctioned it off for a good cause or it still remains in their archives.

In weddings, the bride wearing a necklace that resembles The Heart Of The Ocean is probably the highlight of the entire ceremony. It is when she walks down the aisle very slowly on purpose so that everybody could take a good look at the necklace she’s wearing. I can’t imagine how long these brides would take to walk down the aisle. I could only feel for the poor groom who waits by the altar patiently as he watches his bride approach him so slowly. Anyway, it will surely make any wedding as memorable as the movie and as dramatic as Rose’s quest to find Jack. And by the way, don’t forget to play the theme song “My Heart Will Go On” to get that authentic Titanic feel, too.

The US Virgin Islands

by Owen Jones

The US Virgin Islands came into America’s possession in 1917 after Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to it for $25m in gold. At the time, the USA was worried that the Germans would gain control of the islands and use them as a base from which to launch attacks on America.

The status of the US Virgin Islands is one of an organized, unincorporated territory of the United States. This means the residents of the US Virgin Islands are US citizens, but cannot vote in US presidential elections. Therefore, US citizens do not need a passport to visit the US Virgin Islands.

The US Virgin Islands are part virgin Islands archipelago and are located in the Leeward islands of the Lesser Antilles along with the British Virgin Islands. The three main islands of this American territory are called Saint Croix, Saint John and Saint Thomas. There is also a much smaller island called Water Island. All together, there are about 60 islands with a total surface area of 133.73 square miles, although most of the islands are uninhabited.

The four main islands of the US Virgin Islands are known to their residents by nicknames. These are ‘Twin City’ (St. Croix); ‘Rock City’ (St. Thomas); ‘Love City’ (St. John) and ‘Small City’ (Water Island) and their total population was 108,612 in the 2000 census.

Since the 1960′s, the islands turned their focus from agriculture to heavy industry and tourism and the US Virgin Islands are a very popular destination for American tourists and honeymooners. It is very easy for Americans to get there because a passport is not required, the islands are only 1,730 miles east south-east of Miami, the currency is the US dollar and everybody speaks English.

The islands enjoy an arid, pleasant climate. The average temperature in the capital, Charlotte Amelie, is 33c in the summer and 30c in the winter. September to November are the wettest months and February and March are the driest. The USVI are subject to hurricanes. Hurricane Hugo in 1989 was particularly devastating, but the islands were also hit in 1998, 1999 and 2008.

Tourism is the industry that most of the islanders are engaged in and about 2,000,000 people visit every year, many of them on cruise liners. St Thomas and St Croix are the best equipped to deal with tourists offering hotels and resorts along with lovely beaches and fine restaurants. Water sports are the main activity, although tourists can also hire horses or jeeps to discover the interior of the US Virgin Islands.

Choose Your Wedding Ring Carefully

by Owen Jones

There is a very large number of wedding rings available in the shops these days. In fact, you have the world of wedding rings to choose from. The high street shops in a large town have a very good selection, but the Internet lays the best jewellers and the best styles out for your inspection.

So, it is very important that you take your time when selecting one. Maybe the vast choice of wedding rings makes that more difficult not easier. Diamond wedding rings have been the most popular since ordinary working people could afford them, before that a plain band of gold had to suffice, for people who could afford that much.

Nowadays, Western people have become more adventurous and they are choosing other stones like the stunningly beautiful blue sapphire. Some even choosing not to have a stone at all, going back to tradition, so to speak. However, there are lots of examples of not so plain bands of gold too.

There is the Irish Claddagh ring with its distinctive two hands holding a crowned heart symbolizing love, friendship and loyalty; and there is the Celtic Knot with its intricately interwoven strands twisting and turning without end, standing for eternity and eternal love despite the twists and turns and difficulties of daily life.

So, selecting a wedding ring is not just a question of choosing a beautiful wedding ring, you should be selecting one that says what you want it to say. You could look up on the Internet what the different metals and various stones symbolize traditionally. If you cannot find a ring that says what you want, consider having one made. It is not as expensive as you might think.

Tradition is a good thing when it comes to wedding rings. After all, you want your ring to express your eternal love and devotion for the person you are giving it to and your marriage could last fifty or sixty years, especially with people living longer these days. With a bit of luck, you will wear this ring for the rest of your life, so choose a style that seems ageless to you.

Picking a wedding ring is not as straightforward as it looks, because you are going to be wearing your ring every day for the rest of your life, so it should be something that you will not get tired of in a couple years. You should look at and try on many rings in order to get one that feels comfortable. You will want a ring that does not look out of date in ten years time. The simplest method of doing that is to go for a traditional style, because those styles have already stood the test of time.

One last piece of advice is to ask the jeweller to verify the total carat weight of the stones in the ring and the weight of each individual stone and the quality and weight of the metal (although it should be hallmarked) on paper, then if it gets lost or stolen you have something to show the insurance company.
